Solar and Wind energy

These days the world is facing a major energy dilemma. Many of the natural resources that we have been using will eventually run out. As a result, we have to continue to search for other sources of energy that are renewable. Wind and solar energy  are two types of energy sources which are renewable and sustainable. There are, however, many differences and similarities between these two sources of energy.

Primarily, solar energy is an energy comes from the sun, and as we know that solar energy is renewable and infinite. Because solar energy depends on the  sun, we need a sunny area to use this kind of energy. If we want to generate electrical energy from sun energy, we need special equipment to convert it, this equipment is called “solar cell” which is made from silicon with specific structure. The group of solar cells are called ” solar panel ” . Solar energy is easy to use anywhere and it is so safe. The efficiency of commercial solar panels in is around 18% , so this is a good percentage. It is easy to install solar panels anywhere with cheap cost, but if  you want to buy solar system for your home, for example, that will cost you too much, so solar energy is expensive. Solar panels do not need frequent maintenance. Gradually the usage of this energy is increasing around the world.

There is another significant natural sources of energy, known as wind energy. Wind energy is generated naturally from wind and when directed by using different kinds of technology can produce electric energy. We have to use a special machine called ” generator “, which is connected with a huge fan by the shaft of the generator. So the wind moves the fan which is connected with the shaft will rotate then the generator will convert the dynamic movement to electric energy. To use the wind energy we have to find a large area with an windy climate like mountains and the area beside the coast. Wind energy is safe in case we use it in nonresidential areas. The generators which are used need frequent maintenance. The installation expenses are too much because to install the machines and build the stations we need a lot of personnel tools and vehicles. So wind energy is one of the most important sources of energy we need to far the develop.

On The other hand , there are many differences and similarities between wind and solar energy. Not only solar energy is sustainable but wind energy is too. Solar and wind energy need a special environment to work. As we know to get the solar energy from sun the wind energy from wind, so we can get both from nature. That means both of them are free sources of energy. To use the solar energy perfectly, we need a sunny area, not like wind energy, which needs a windy area. Wind energy is more efficient than solar energy. Solar energy is more expensive than wind energy. If we talk about safety, solar energy is safer than wind energy. It is easier to use solar energy than wind energy, wind energy needs wind area and it is hard to use it between houses, unlike solar energy where you can use it anywhere that has a lot of sun light.

Finally, solar and wind energy are very important sources of energy which are able to be converted into electricity using special machines. Wind energy is more common than solar energy because solar energy is a new technology. Nowadays the world is looking toward solar energy as the primary source of energy in the future. As a result, scientists should focus more attention on the development and refinement of this technology. Solar and wind energy are effective solutions to major energy dilemma that the world is forcing.
