Course Description
Part of the U.S. Department of Labor, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) enforces standards for safe and healthy workplace conditions. This OSHA10 online training course teaches recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. This course also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities and how to file a complaint. It was also designed to help workers stay up-to-date with their OSHA safety requirements.

Course Objectives
o Recognize what worker rights are protected under OSHA
o Recognize what responsibilities an employer has under OSHA
o Identify major fall hazards
o Identify common caught-in or -between hazards
o Identify common struck-by hazards
o Identify types of electrocution hazards
o Identify ways to select appropriate PPE and lifesaving equipment
o Identify major health hazards common to the construction industry
o Recognize how to protect oneself from material handling hazards
o Identify major hand & power tool hazards
o Recognize role of the workforce in improving the current culture
o Recognize the role of management in improving the current culture

1. Introduction to OSHA
o Explain worker rights under OSHA
o Discuss employer responsibilities under OSHA
o Understand how OSHA inspections are conducted
2. Focus Four Hazards
o Identify, describe and protect yourself from each of the following Focus Four Hazards:
-Fall Hazards
-Electrocution Hazards
-Caught-In or -Between Hazards
-Struck-By Hazards
o Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from each of the Focus Four Hazards
3. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
o Describe types of hazards that require PPE Lifesaving Equipment
o Identify and select appropriate PPE Lifesaving Equipment
o Protect yourself from Safety & Health hazards
4. Health Hazards in Construction
o Identify major health hazards common to the construction industry
o Describe acute and chronic health hazards
o Protect yourself from safety and health hazards
5. Materials Handling, Storage and Use
o Identify material handling hazards on the job site
o Describe common types of material handling hazards

6. Hand Tools and Power Tools
